Charity Vote
Donna Utz described the two charities we are considering as recipients of a donation from the treasury: Youth on Their Own and Tri-Community Food Bank. YOTO serves teens who are abandoned by their parents and encourages them to graduate from high school. They provide a rent stipend, clothing, counseling, transportation, and other support services. The food bank serves more than 600 families in San Manuel, Mammoth, Oracle, Oracle Junction and Arivaca. In addition to food, they help with utilities and medicine.
A vote was taken and YOTO won unanimously.
We will continue to donate school supplies to San Manuel and Mammoth.
Announcements

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Marijo reminded us that breast cancer is still very much a reality. Nancy Goodman Brinker launched the global breast cancer movement in 1982 after promising her dying sister, Susan G. Komen that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer. Today “Komen for the Cure” is the world’s largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists. Although the five-year relative survival rate for all cancers is 64%, we can do better. Thanks to fund raising initiatives like our MountainView Lady Putter’s Rally for the Cure event, research is helping to improve early detection and treatment options and to finding cures.
Cancer survivors and fighters wee asked to stand and were honored with a toast and applause.

Shirley announced the Board’s decision to add another Member at Large position. This new position will be in charge of starting all the special event committees.
Special Events/Lottery Explanation
Ginnie Schoepf reminded all members to read the sign-in sheets carefully for name, date and cost of the event before signing up. She stated that each sign-up sheet will have a lottery date on it. The deadline for signing up is one day before the lottery date. There are always three people present for each lottery drawing.
Once the lottery takes place, chosen names are listed in alphabetical order by first name. Then the alternates are listed, in the order in which they were drawn. The sign-up sheet/lottery list contains the name of the person to contact if you cannot attend. Please call that person, who will then contact the alternates in proper order to take your place. Your check will not be returned to you. Instead, the alternate will write a check to you and either give it directly to you or put it in the yellow box. Shirley or Marijo will hand out checks from the yellow box at the Monday putting sessions.
The Moonlight Madness lottery will be on May 16 with checks due by May 23.
